Crushed Amber Malt

My son bought me Dave Line's book Brewing Beers Like Those You buy and 2 kilos of crushed amber malt for fathers day :D I don't have my AG set up sorted yet, can I use the amber malt like I would crystal malt for extract brewing :?:

Afraid not, you need to mash amber malt. Have a look here for a recent list of grains you can simply steep.
Next Up : Something for the summer
Primary : Nothing
Secondary / Conditioning : Nothing
Drinking : Mosaic IPA

Cheers CC, I will soon have my AG set up sorted so I will use it then, am I correct in thinking you use a maximum of 10% amber malt in the mash :?:

You would be correct, it's quite bitter and strong in flavour if you overuse it. Experiment but keep the quantity as a rule of thumb below ten per cent or so.
