Post by oxford brewer » Sun Mar 04, 2007 1:28 pm

This is what i intend to do today(instead of the fence!!)

1.6kg of John Bull Diastatic Malt Extract
1.6kg of John Bull Light Extract
250g of Crystal Malt
100g of Chocolate Malt
250g of Flaked Maize

Will mash The Diastatic malt with the Crystal,Chocolate and the Flaked Maize at 64c(in 4 gallons of water) for 30mins in a mash bag and then remove.
Add the other tin of LME and top of to 5 Gallons before starting the boil

40g of Northern Brewer(9.6%AA)for 60mins
25g of Cascade(6.8%AA) at 15 mins
15g of Cascade(6.8%AA) when boiler is turned off to steep for 20-30 mins whilst coiling

Will keep people informed, hopefully a few pics as well??

Download google picasa (http://picasa.google.com/) free.

When you've imported the photos into picasa (it does this for you first time you run it), you can right click the picture, and left click "export" and resize the picture however you need.

View the pic, drag around it and hit ctrl and y to crop and resize in the image menu (select 640 x 480) for a reasonable size.

Trying to resize some other photos, might be back later with them .
Brew has been put to bed at 16.25pm at 24c(temp will drop to 20c overnight giving the yeast a good start?)and for the first time i used some of the wort after cooling,to temperature correct the rehydrated yeast as reccomended on the sachet of Nottingham yeast!

See what happens!!

Must figure out how to do that myself, i've only been using PB for about 18 months
It didnt work so i tried what maxashton suggested http://picasa.google.com

Here are a few more photos however

This is the yeast rehydrating

Immersion Chiller lazing about then at work followed by the water conservation

Followed by the yeast after a little temperature correction by mixing a little wort with it(dropped the yeast temp from 30c to 26c before pitching)

This is the wort run off into FV

And thats the new baby sat in the middle of her siblings

Image

Gravity reading is 1.041 at 21c and sample tasted ok and a heavy hop aroma(subsituted 15g of cascade for 45g at the end of boil  )

Speak to you all soon

Dont mention the fence as i seem to of found that you cant buy 7' panels any more, so i may have to "fabricate" (well take a jigsaw, prybar and hammers to) panel sizes to fit and fill in the gaps, new posts and spikes and that means more cost than was initially thought :x :x .....and im brewing my own beer to try to save money #-o

May think about getting a company to supply and fit this style of fencing and have it done with for 20 years  http://www.avsfencing.co.uk/product.asp ... 41&USERID=
