Bottle conditioning Queries

Post by DaveyT » Sun Oct 17, 2010 8:37 pm

Howdy
I've got some Exmoor Ale that's been bottled for a week. I've had it at room temperature for that week and I'm not sure what to do with it now. I had some good tips that I've since forgotten and lost.
Does it now need to sit somewhere cooler? If so, how cold? Can I stick it in a fridge or is that too cold?
Any suggestions welcome.

Cheers

Keep it at room temperature as the yeast is more than likely still working with the priming sugar. Usually takes around 2 weeks to condition properly.

Thanks Floyd.
They would have had two weeks by the weekend so a few of them might have to be sacrificed in the name of qulaity control.

After a week or two at room temperature to allow carbonation to build up, you can move your bottles to somewhere around 12 to 14C, for as long as you can resist. I tend to carbonate for about 10 days and then drink as they mature. Some beers are better young, some better with age......your beer your choice/taste
