New Brewer! Czech style help needed!

Hello everyone!

I'm new to brewing but not to beer! I've bought the gear to brew from extract, I looked at full grain but have neither the time or money to pursue this kind of brewing, however I'm prepared to put as much input into my extract kits to get the best results I can and if I'm correct there seems to be a way of combining fresh ingredients to an extract kit to give it that little extra quality?

Let me explain that I like German and Czech beers budvar,Furstenberg,DAB,Pils Urquel,Steigl,Kaiser etc etc are some of my faves and in time I'd like to produce a good pale ale in a white shield,Jaipur style but first things first. With my equipment I bought of all things an Australian (Coopers) brewmaster pilsner kit it claims to have the all important saaz hops and I have high expectations of this kit, however I'm a realist.

So what I'd like to know from all my new brewing brothers and sisters is any tips from people with similar tastes to me as to which are the best kits to use to achieve an authentic pilsner? the use of grains to add to extracts worth it or not? adding hops? dry hopping? best sugars for pilsners and the use of spraymalts? Phew see I've done some research!
I look forward to hearing all your tricks of the trade!
thanks Tigerzoid.

Hi

I'm not a lager drinker by nature (though I do enjoy Schwarzbier) but if you would like to play around with creating the perfect Czech pilsner, you could do worse than this recipe.

The recipe is halfway down the page and is for 19L. Never tried it but if you type the name into the web, it is on a good few websites with favourable reviews.

Cheers
