Bottled yesterday, sneaked a taste as well. Delicious! yet not hoppy, nor bitter enough... Definitely upping the Columbus boil to 50-60 grams this next time, and perhaps doubling the dry hop.
This Citra is a wonderful flavor and have ordered a butt load more along with loads of Amarillo, Ahtanum, Willamette, and of course Cascade, just over 2kg in total! Really wanted some Motueka, but the shop I use is currently out of stock.

Hi JTK: I made a Citra only ale a little while ago and it was wonderful and hoppy with really nice bitterness to it. What I did was boil for 90 minutes to get the bitterness up. I left the lid on partially to allow for some evaporation but not enough so that I lost a lot of liquid as steam. Mind you, there's mileage in upping the bitterness hops and keeping the boil time low as well. Let me know how you get on as I've often wondered what would be best.

Regards,

Dave.
Currently Drinking: Marris Otter with home roasted porridge oats, shredded wheat, crystal and black malt, EKG hops and Nottingham yeast. Smooth, dark, and rich - put some aside for Xmas.
Currently Drinking: Bohemian Pilsner with porridge oats, shredded wheat and basmati rice, along with Saaz hops, mandarin zest, coriander, cardamon pods and Munich yeast. Silky on the mouth with a wonderful summer taste. Love this brew!

Hey Dave,
Well thats a good thought, I hadnt really considered the longer boil. Great now I have to do 2 more batches to figure that out :D !
Should be able to give that a go sometime this weekend after racking a 15L Raspberry wheat(for the Mrs.) and freeing up the FV. Also have to bottle 15L of a Best Bitter with tons of Progress, and Fuggles.
I really want to get the American IPA recipes down as I am an Expat missing my IPA's!!! Down here in Zambia, I have my choice of about 5 different Lagers and thats about it!

Effort #2! Made some adjustments to the hop schedule using an extra 50grams of Citra for dry hopping, and 20 grams extra Columbus for bittering, everything else is the same except using US-05 yeast starter.

Columbus Whole 17.9 %/ 60 mins/ 50 grams
Citra Whole 13.8 % /30 mins/ 25 grams
Citra Whole 13.8 %/20 mins 25 grams
Citra Whole 13.8 %/10 mins 25 grams
Citra Whole 13.8 %/ 1 mins 25 grams
Citra Whole 13.8%/ Dry hopped/ 50 grams
