Hydrometer

Post by jimmybobbird » Mon Oct 08, 2012 8:50 pm

Hi All,

My hydrometer seems to have a mind of its own. I can bung it into a sample of beer and it can have different answers dependant on whether and how much it is touching the side of the container.

I use the hydrometer case (cylindrical approx 25mm in diameter) as the fluid contaner. I suppose the easy answer is to use a larger diameter container to make sure the hydrometer does not "stick" (capilliary forces? Can't rememebr O level Physics) but it seems an awful waste of beer (surely a cardinal sin).

Any ideas?
