First Extract Brew Planned - Golden Ale

Post by willy_1977 » Sun Mar 02, 2014 5:25 pm

Hiya,

After recent-ish success with Ditch's stout recipe (modified by bunging treacle, a few hops, and a bit of wheat in) The trip to the local providers of homebrew stuff had a sale on 2 tins of pale malt extract for 12 quid - I snapped up the last two and thought, I have a mid brew kegged and a stout bottled - need to think about a light coloured ale :)

So I've taken the plunge: I've just ordered some challenger, goldings, and styrian goldings.

I plan to put in the boiler and add challenger at start of boil, goldings towards the end (last 10mins) and styrian post boil. Anything you would advise and/or change?

May have to do a brew day entry on this as it'll be my first boil :D

I've never used styrian, but challenger and golding are a great combo.
I'm just here for the beer.

Have you done this yet? How did it go? Did you use any beer software to calculate your hops?
