Hi all,
brewed up a beer last week, just took a sample as I moved into the roto keg and it seemed to have little to no hop flavour despite the amount of hops I used being quite a half decent amount.
Batch size was about 16ltr.
Extract batch with light malt dry extract with a gravity of about 1.040.
hops were as follows
20 ish min mark
7g Magnum
18 minute mark (was 15, but upped to 18 to get more ibu)
14g Citra
14g Ahtanum
14g Pacifica
1 min mark
7g citra
7g ahtanum
7g Pacifica
So did I not use enough hops for a pale ale, or could it be down to using a no chill cube i.e. not quickly chilling the beer down?
I am debating Dry hopping it with some more citra to give it some character as if it says like it currently is after a week in the rotokeg it'll be a very boring beer.
Thanks
Little to no hop character, any ideas?

Thats baffling! Are you getting big malt flavours?
Just like trying new ideas!
Re: Little to no hop character, any ideas?
not especially, pretty standard. I have heard nottingham can strip hop character, but it seems too much to be that really, but I suppose it could be. Likely fall back will be a citra dry hop for a week, but I will wait to see what people think first.
Re: Little to no hop character, any ideas?
Using citra, I would be surprised if it was subdued on the hop front.

How long it takes to chill wort below 40c? Most of hop oils is highly volatile
Re: Little to no hop character, any ideas?
I couldn't time it tbh due to the fact that i moved it straight into a no chill cube. And I personally put this into a cold bath of water and leave it sideways (with water level just below cap) until next morning.
