This is a little guide I put together for kit adaption, but it goes on to show how you can make a full extract recipe with very little equipment and experience.

The Coopers APA used in this guide has minimal bittering, and if made to Coopers instructions is a bit of a 'meh' lager, but I do find it works well as a base for some extract brews if you want a small boil volume and to use minimal (expensive) hops.

All the ingredients arrived today and I got a larger pot. First of all, the alpha acid levels of the supplied hops were higher than I anticipated so my IBU might be closer to 65! Everything so far has gone to plan. My OG reading is just a tad over 1052 so I am looking good on the ABV front too :)

One thing I meant to ask. When adding the hops at flame out - how long should they remain in the pot? I sparged the other hops which took about a minute, meaning that the flame-out hops were only in for a matter of minutes at most. This doesn't seem right to me. Should I have left those in?

15-20 minutes is what I generally leave the hops in for at flame out.
