help please with a recipe problem

Hi,I've been visiting this site for a few weeks now and I'm hoping someone can help me out.A recipe I'm looking at calls for 650g of maltose syrup.Now I cant seem to find any information on this at all.Is there a substitute I can use in its place or maybe I can make it up myself if I knew what it was?
