Uk supplier of boilers/pans for biab
After 8 kits over the last 6 months I'm very tempted to get into biab all grain. I don't have a big pan though, something like this looks ideal,

does anyone know of a uk supplier of something similar, as I really like the idea of a built in thermometer & tap...

I don't know anyone who does them with a built in thermometer, but you can get one with a built in tap from the Malt Miller.

Or you can buy the pot on its own from here and fit all the bits yourself.

Wow, MM is a great supplier, not to far from me either, everything I need to go AG in one place, just need to convince SWMBO that I need MORE beer gear...

I got my boiler from Nisbets

I paid £120 for the 40 litre one, which a month later was in their sale for £90. If you leave the lid off and turn the heater up to full you get a great rolling boil.

that seems like a nice option, and would avoid the potential issue of my hob being lacking in power, do you mash in this too, does it hold heat ok?Doctor_Paul wrote:I got my boiler from Nisbets

I use a 40 litre Buffalo and they are great. Just wrap it in a duvet and it loses 1 degree over the mash.

Cool, so is 40l the ideal size to go for when doing standard 40 pint brews?

Re: Uk supplier of boilers/pans for biab
Using the calculators available on http://www.biabrewer.info/, I have found that with an average 5kg grain bill, there is just enough clearance at the top of the boiler during the mash. Care should be taken when removing the bag but it works well. I use a pulley system now but previously "hand pulled". ooo...er missus
I get about 23-25 litres into the FV. The downloadable calculator enables you to calculate the efficiency and how much water is required for a given grain bill. Well worth downloading.

Sounds good, price wise its around £25 more to go the electric 40l compared with a 50l ss pot & tap...
Can anyone help with my decision?
I have a 4 ring gas hob.
I'll be brewing a good range, but mainly porters, wits & avg ales...

bigger and shiny is better, but you have to "invest" in a seperate burner for the shed...
