Just gone BIAB, but have to say Ditch's stout was so good, wouldn't bother with an AH version

I love this.

Have to agree with Ditch, this is a kit forum. There are plenty of people who stop by and offer good advice on kits from AG brewing and I wouldn't want it to stop, but, despite the fact that I want to move to AG when time, space and knowledge allow, I think that BIAB talk should be kept in that section.

Glad you are having fun with it though OP.

I hope you don't feel that I was attacking you. I read the extract and AG boards quite a lot, even though most of it goes straight over my head, but with every read I feel I learn a little more. (Which I instantly forget after I consume some beer).

It is just that it does seem sometimes that we are the poor relations as we are the kit brewers, whether we only brew this way because we like the results, (I do), can afford it, or have the space to do it.

Either way I love this forum as a friendly way for getting some great advice.

Sorry if I caused any offence.

Yep - we are all fellow brewers - methods are up to individuals - we all have different priorities - pressure of other life things mean some can do kits others can do AG.

I don't see that somebody having an opinion on a subject should cause such vitriol. This is Daab/Chris X-1 (?) in reverse. Here is somebody who is a kit brewer saying that he has great success doing that, but offering an opinion that he is very happy with results doing something else and that he thinks others will too.
It's not about us and them.

I too brewed kits for years and went BIAB. It is great. It's not for everyone. It won't be for Ditch, because Ditch has particular tastes. This doesn't mean an individual can't shout from the rooftops about something that he found. If you don't want to do it, then there is no need to feel insecure. Do what you want. It's your beer. But don't criticize somebody for offering an opinion. That is what most on here are offering anyway.

I will continue to dip in and out of Kits Brewing and Answers because my experience may help others. Likewise I read All Grain Questions and Answers along with BIAB. It's all brewing. And it's interchangeable.

I was a kit brewer as I said for 25 years and enjoyed them greatly. I always wanted to try AG but it just seemed so drawn out and rather complicated for me, then along came BIAB and found it as easy as doing a kit with far better results, all I am saying to kit brewers is just have a go as it is just so easy and it is actually hard to *** up.
All you need is the equipment you have in your kitchen and what you have anyway plus a 30 litre or 50 litre stock pot.
I just think people are missing out on a cheaper and more satisfying art of brewing and wanted to tell them.
Some love there kits and will never want to change but I suspect there are some who are on the cusp but just a little scared to try it, all I am saying to those people is have a go...I bet you do not regret it.

Not sure that was necessary Andy. Are kit brewers so insecure that somebody can't make a suggestion as to an alternative ?

I don't normally have an issue with a Mods decisions. But this one seems a bit "previous". Does this not exacerbate the current Us and Them feelings ?

Thanks Andy.

I don't get it. Why did it need to be moved ? It's one persons opinion. Isn't that what most people give on Jim's ?

This isn't personal. It just seems that people are getting too defensive.

Isn't brewing about experience and development. That's what the OP was offering. In his opinion it wasn't a big leap to BIAB for kit brewers and maybe they should consider it. Nobody said, "what you are doing is crap !" He just thought that people should be made aware of an alternative, that they may not have considered.
If we moved every opinion we disagree with, or don't believe should be in that thread, then the Mods would have a fulltime job on their hands.

The OP was bacically about BIAB - therefore that's where it belongs - some kit brewers objected - fair dos.
