Decided to crack open a bottle of this brew last night that WA had kindly sent me.

Image

It opened with an assertive pfft and poured with a fairly large head, so much so that I couldn't get it all in the glass, damn. Once the head settled a bit, the actual carbonation was spot on and the head hung around until the last sip.

As you can see the clarity is very good and the aroma and taste was dominated by the speciality malts, especially the Amber Malt, yum.

Hop aroma was very low, but there was enough bitterness to balance the sweet and toasty malt flavours, so it drank very nicely. The malt flavour hung around on my taste buds for a good while after finishing the beer.

A really good all grain beer IMO, especially as it's WalesAles' first attempt.

Here's to some more

Cheers

Wales - had to re-organise my set-up tonight so had the bottle you sent me despite your instructions to hold for a week. Well, I'd happily pay for a pint of that in the local. A really good beer. It does mean I'm going to hold for a couple of weeks before reciprocating with my BIAB 2 but I'll post on my own thread on that now rather than hijack yours.

Cheers mate and well done - 1st BIAB attempt my arse!!! :D :D
