BIAB Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby

Post by TheFlatulentCow » Thu Nov 17, 2011 2:06 am

Hi, I'm about to embark on my 3rd BIAB (2nd much more successful than the 1st) and I intend to do the GW Sarah Hughes clone. As this will be a BIAB version I wondered if anyone here familiar with the recipe has any tips or recommendations to help make it a good brew?

Cheers.

I did this one recently, not many tips as such but a few observations.
The wet grain is quite heavy and tricky to manage when draining it off.
I did not get the efficiency i hoped for though this was most likely down to my grain, (I've been using Bairds) I should have had 19l but got about 15l finished ale
The fermenting got down to 1.015 by day 5
It's close to being the best one yet.

I did this, though not as BIAB so probably can't help very much. However, if its of use I asked about yeast for it here.

It turned out quite nicely, but I'm not as much of a mild man as I am into bitter, so it lacked a little something for my own personal taste.

Cheers

Thanks for the replies. My grain is from The Malt Miller, it's good quality stuff. Hopefully I'll get somewhere near the efficiency. The yeast discussion was interesting and I'm thinking seriously about getting some liquid yeasts but this time around I'm going to use s-04. I'm planning on taking pictures for this brew.

Cheers.
