I like that he's put in a table giving suggestions for dried yeasts. Handy as it's much cheaper than the liquid.

I'm going to have a bash at the Elderflower Ale from the Greg Hughes book but I've got a question about hops.

It calls for 2 additions of Challenger and one of fuggles.

I have some Bobek, WGV and Summer in the house. I've used the the Bobek before as a substituted for Fuggles but could I use one of the others as a substitute for the Challenger hops?

Cheers guys.

I'd use the WGV as a Challenger substitute, same quantities and timings.

I love this book as well! All is very well explained, so if someone is just starting, he/she will be guided very 'profesionally :).'
My question is, how do you think, what is % efficiency of those recipes (mashes to be exact)? 72, 75 %
I've tried to put'em into various brewing apps and software? Still, it's hard to decide.
What would be your take on this?

[EDIT] I twitted their website and answer was: 75% :). Awesome. And I did answered to myself :p

If you remember, which recipe is the Old Peculier that you made.

I got the book from Christmas and I'm very pleased. My only (small) criticism is that I can't work out which recipe is related to which commercial beer.

For example. I would imagine that 'London Bitter' on page 140 is a Fullers London Pride clone and 'Witbier' on page 190 is Hooegarden. Apart from those, I can't really equate the recipes to beers I know. Most of them do look nice though.

Don't get me wrong, I love the book and am just assembling the equipment ready to start on one of the recipes.

Thanks

Bluepanda i think the old peculier might have been from GW book but the 60 min ipa was from Gregs book.

i prefer this op to the shop bought bottles has alot more flavour to it

Now that's a result. I ordered the GW book yesterday because I enjoyed Greg's book so much.

Happy days :D
