Hi All
Is it worth sparging your grain bag , efficiency wise? or is there not a lot in it ?
Cheers Danny
Sparging
Re: Sparging
Never done it myself and have ~ 75% EFFICIENCY on all most of my 15 brews so far

Re: Sparging
If you're mashing full volume, you'll get a slightly lower efficiency without, but it's not a game changer.
Ingredients: Water, Barley, Hops, Yeast, Seaweed, Blood, Sweat, The swim bladder of a sturgeon, My enemies tears, Scenes of mild peril, An otter's handbag and Riboflavin.
Re: Sparging
I dunk sparge, and end up with more beer in the FV than planned.
Last brew I was aiming for 25l at 1.044, instead I got 29l at 1.046. Had to split them as did not have enough room in the FV, and will put them back together when fermentation has died down.

Re: Sparging
I sparge my grain bag, mostly because to get 23l in the fv I need to start with 34l of water, and that won't fit in my boiler. So I mash in with 27l in the boiler and heat 7l in a pan on the stove, after the mash time is up I lift the bag out and put into one of those large plastic builders buckets that I have drilled loads of holes into the base of, this then sits on top of the boiler and I then use a steel watering can to sprinkle the sparge water over he grain.
Re: Sparging
Doesn't seem to do much but I do it anyway.
I've got a 15L pan that I had from extract brewing before I got my 30L pan for BIAB so it's not really inconvenient for me at all to dunk sparge.
