Strange smell and taste

Post by coldfoot80 » Thu Jul 23, 2015 6:02 pm

Hi guys

I am on to my 3rd BIAB after my 1st two BIAB that were good I was super confident of this batch being top notch. I had followed exactly the same method that served me well but after bottling and conditioning for 6 weeks I finally opened a bottle, there was way too much carbonation and froth and there is a very strange aroma and taste. I have opened 3 bottles and everyone is the same and undrinkable, can anybody shed some light on to what happened ?

Cheers

Probably a bacterial or wild yeast infection. The gushing is the big giveaway.

Thanks for that, the 1st BIAB I used a dry yeast but I kept on reading a liquid yeast is far greater, the colour of the beer is good but way too much carbonation and an awful aroma and taste.

back to the dry yeast I think

thanks
