My First and Last BIAB..........!

Post by WalesAles » Tue Sep 01, 2015 8:08 pm

Hello Boys and Girls,
Get your tissues ready to wipe the tears of laughter from your eyes! :D #-o
This has been the worst day of my life! Faffing about, wait for this, wait for that, blah, blah.........!
Done my Bloody Head in! #-o
Anyway, BeerSmith would not accept my figures (I don`t why), so I made a Sinatra BIAB. Yes, I did it my way! :D
If any of you would like to put these items in Beersmith and see what comes out at the end, please do so! It`s made now, so what the Hell! :D
Page 164 of GW`s book uses 4Kg of stuff so I thought I would follow that page! Simples! :D

2Kg Simpsons Golden Promise
1Kg Simpsons Pale
500gr Crystal
500gr Amber
120gr Carared
17gr EKG , 17gr Progress, 15gr Challenger in at boil start,
20gr Amarillo 10 mins from end of boil.
SG 15Lts 1064
SG 18Lts 1046
18Lts of Fine Tasting, Fine Smelling something! :D

We do have a Larrfffff, don`t we! :D

 The first all grain brew is always the worst! Then you can do it like bashing up a kit brew

I put your recipe into Beersmith but substituted the 3KG of Simpsons malt with MO with a total efficiency of 70%. Beersmith tells me a 18L batch will have an OG of 1.049 so you done well WA =D> =D>

You may have overshot the bitterness with all those hops at the start though. Knowing what you brew you'll probably like it though! :D

What yeast did you use?

Don't use Beersmith. Use the BIABacus as it's perfect for BIAB.
