I had another go at my favourite kit today. I used 1.8 kg of maris otter, mashed in a cheapy insulated drinks dispenser I bought from the range. I mashed at 66 degrees for 90 minutes, then sparged with 70 degrees. I reduced the amount of hops but it still has some character. I'm happy with the gravity of 1.056, but the colour is darker. Is this down to the longer mash time? All in all, I'm happy with the results, every brew I learn more. I used a refractometer for the first time too, good bit of kit.
