Help Required - Essex Gas - Alternative to Hobbyweld?

Post by Addled Jim » Thu Feb 20, 2014 2:21 pm

Hi
I'm trying to find a supplier of Co2 in Essex, ideally in the Chelmsford/Colchester areas. So far my choice is only Hobbyweld at £60 deposit then £30/refill - does anyone have any other cheaper suggestions?
Thanks,

Try Essex Industrial Gasses, Beckingham Business Park, Beckingham Street, Tolleshunt Major near Maldon. 01621 868636

I don't know what they charge these days so please report back!

Gave Essex Industrial Gasses a try, works out much more expensive, deposit/cost of bottle is £96 - £144 depending on size or you can choose to go for £4.80 - £7.20 per month rental
Looks like I will have to go with Hobbyweld - £90 initial outlay (£60 deposit + £30 gas)

We use Cellair based in Ipswich but not sure if they deal with the public. Our pub bottle refills are only about a tenner. Might be worth a ring

Thanks,
What size is that for Jim? I use Reliable Fire in Leigh on sea but it's a PITA having to go there just for co2 (albeit infrequently)

£96 for the purchase of 6.35kg bottle + £14/refill & £144 for 15kg + £28/refill or £4.80 & £7.20/month rental plan - I presume the purchased bottles come filled for that price, maybe not?
I just decided to go with a 6.35kg bottle from Hobbyweld in the end, the bottle should last 1 to 2 years then I could look for another cheaper deal & reclaim my deposit, or get a refill currently priced at £30 - maybe not the cheapest but on my doorstep so cheaper to get there
