Hiya.
I will be bottling my first brew in a week or so due to shifts at work. My Pf has a auto siphon bottling cane with filter and I have bought / drank beers to get enough bottles and a wilkos capper and caps.
I have been given another Pf from a mate. What's the best way to prime the beer and bottle it all with the least amount of swearing.
I can also get sterile sealed 5/10/20/50 ml syringes if that would make things easier?
My brew is wilkos golden ale. By next week it will be three weeks fermenting.
Cheers

Re: first time bottling
Up to 2 gallons, I use a teaspoon measure for cider, half teaspoon for ale, to put sugar into each bottle.
Over 2 gallons, better to rack onto all the sugar in second FV, make sure it's well mixed in, then bottle.

Its a 23 litre batch.
Am I right in assuming I siphon into sterilised spare pf, sterilise the one with the bottling cane and add sugar/water ? Or can I do it from the one its currently in. I am confused with all the yeast etc and best way of not bottling bombs/crud

Re: first time bottling
I normally do it this way for a 23 litre brew.
Have a spare sanitised FV.
Dissolve 80 - 100 grams of sugar in 1/2 a pint of water.
Add this to the sanitised FV
Syphon brew into FV ( this should mix the sugar into the beer)
Syphon into bottles
Cap
Leave and then enjoy
It may well take you a couple of hours on your first attempt. It can take time to clean and sanitise your bottles. To speed this up you can get a no rinse sanitiser (this has been a god send). A bottle wand is also a very nice addition.
Happy brewing

Re: first time bottling
Ah you've got a bottling cane attached to the FV it's in now?
Since the cane makes bottling so much easier, I might be tempted to actually use a teaspoon to get sugar into all 40 bottles and do it from where it is. It doesn't take /that/ long to get round them.
