Where to put holes in fridge
Hi all
Just got myself a fridgefreezer to keep my corny's in. Question is where is the safest place to make the holes for the gas and beer lines? I'm thinking the side for the gas and the door to beer, hoping to fit the tap to the door.
Cheers Tom

If you specify the make / model of fridge-freezer someone may have used one before and give advice
On my fridge-based keggerator I went through the side.. very carefully.
Gas in left and beer-lines through right. Elec cable for heat lamp through side too.

Re: Where to put holes in fridge
Right.
It's a ZanussI DF62/26
Before I start drilling holes I'm presuming that the door is safe as it's removable so shouldn't have any electrical bits inside. The only cable I can see that enters the body of the fridge is high up, level with the light/thermostat. I'm thinking that lower down should be reasonably safe?
I've put my one full keg in and have got it running with the thermostat set at it's lowest, warmest, setting so I'll see what the thermometer reads in the morning.
Any further input or advice is welcome

Oh right, didn't know you'd re-employed after the last time, bad luck. I retired officially last October. Don't know how I found the time to gosoupdragon wrote:Got some time on my hands again. It just sort of happened. I've found it hard not to work to be honest. It's the kind of thing you get used to doing, apart from that it keeps us in holidays to Greece

Re: Where to put holes in fridge
Possible issue with the fridge/freezer.....
I ( stupidly ) had the fridge/freezer tight up against the wall with little on no room at the back for ventilation. Yesterday I heard something click rather than the compressor kick in to run and the freezer compartment had already started to defrost so I don't know how long it had been happening. I turned the thermostat up and waited for something to happen but after about 20 seconds all it did was click again. I checked the compressor and it was red hot
I unplugged it, pulled it away from the wall and gave the condenser grid thing a clean. It didn't seem blocked but it wouldn't do any harm. By this time, about an hour had passed so I plugged it back in and it started up ok.
Now............. My query is how warm/hot should the compressor get in normal use? Checked it again this morning and it's still working ok but the compressor still feels warm when not actually doing anything. Is it likely to conk out on me again or, as long as I leave a proper space at the back might it be ok? And am I worrying needlessly about the heat coming off the compressor? I do understand that it does get hot when running as that's the nature of them.
Cheers Tom
