Anyone got a DDG hand pump?

I've just bought one (a DDG: Drinks Dispense Group) pump on Ebay and can't get it to work. Does anyone else have one that they could take the odd photo of? It doesn't seem to want to suck anything up much and the actual pull on the handle is very stiff. I've taken it apart up to a point and the seals on the pump look fine. I only have a Homark pump to compare it to and that works beautifully.

I have 2 of them. Both working fine. Have you got any photos of the piston assembly and cylinder seals?

Yes, a 'dominator' I think it's named. I'll get some photos taken before tomorrow and post them.

You do know it is not actualy a pump dont you . It is one of those fake hand pump types that look like a pump but is infact just a flow valve . You do the action of pumping with the handle and the damper causes the resistance and holds the flow valve open . Hence the JG pipe fittings .

What a shame . Its ok if you can hook it up to a keg setup though but defeats the whole point of a hand pump if you ask me . Im sure the DDG went bust . We made the dampers for those units .

Yes, defeats the whole object to fit it to a keg. Oh well, you live and learn!

Are you wanting to rig up a beer engine thing?
I've read several places that a food grade water pump made for use on a boat (RV) can be used for that. If I ever get real ambitious I might do one up.

... I haven't got a DDG one, but I have got a (roughly equivalent) Mason's Shakespeare Unit (link) and connect mine to one of my (basic) pressure barrels ... works a treat (and doesn't need a check valve)

What were you planning on using it to dispense from? I clean mine by putting a bottling bucket up on a shelf with cleaner in and "pull"-ing some through the pipes, so it doesn't need much pressure to get an OK flow ... CO2 pressure, gravity fed or, as Rookie suggests, a pump should sort it out for you

No, mine was going to be linked to a polypin, no gas added (that was the plan). I already have one, I just wanted another like it.
