Gas line length too long at 7m?

Post by Hodda » Thu Oct 22, 2015 6:45 pm

Does it matter how long the gas line length is? I have another option to place the gas bottle in another location but its 7m away from the planned kegerator (so 7m fro reg to Y piece in fridge then onto kegs) - however I can run the gas lie behind the kitchen cupboards - would this length matter? I

ve got the rigid 3/8 line from MM if that makes a difference.

Ideally need an answer this evening as I want to sort tonight and just had this idea!

Don't see any problem with it. Just takes a minute fraction more gas to fill the line...

Cool I have also read this on the web so Im going to try and go with this it means the bottle is in a place less likely to get knocked to played with by the kids

That is a good call you do not want to knock the tap off of a gas bottle. (Larger bottles have the potential to breech a reinforced concrete wall)
At work all of our gas bottles are located external to the building in a locked store. The gas lines run for 10s of metres to where they are needed.

Managed to sort it so its now at the end of the kitchen run in some dead space under the worktop in the corner - I thinks its better here rather than also understaffs where shoes n hoovers get dumped in and out of - it fits and I have run the line under cupboards to the under-stairs where the fridge will be - going to chain it to wall also.

So thats the line in now just need to plum in the gas and then drill fridge for the shanks - anyone suggest a drill bit for the shanks from MM looks like 22mm- Ive only got the nearest size 25mm wood bit or maybe 20mm corer bit - looks like it would go through fridge door as its quite thin sheet of metal but maybe not.

Also considering wood both side of door to reinforce but not sure yet

Fridge doors are thin metal. I used a normal metal bit and it dug in and gave a bad hole. Also the insulation in the gap is a bit naff so you struggle to use any clamp fitting without some sort of spacer.
Hope this helps. I just went though the door with the gas/beer line and used grommets to protect the lines from chaffing.
