Hi gang,
I currently a have a 3 output regulator setup at home and wondered if there was any way to chain one additional regulator off of it?
Cheers,
Jeff
Adding a single regulator to an existing multi regulator
Re: Adding a single regulator to an existing multi regulator
No problem. Use a 2-way splitter on one of the outputs (if you have to) to create an 'extra' CO2 line and feed this into a secondary regulator.
Sounds like you have a multi-stage primary reg. Primary regs take the high-pressure bottle output. A secondary reg takes a low-pressure feed from your primary reg and regulates that to the pressure you set (as long as it is below the feed pressure!)
In my setup below, the primary is feeding 20psi to the three secondarys, which are at 8, 7, and 15psi. The secondarys are chained together as the feed pressure runs through the 'back plane' to allow chaining and further expansion....
First rule of homebrew kit, anticipate endless expansion....

Re: Adding a single regulator to an existing multi regulator
Yes..

depends on the regs, my 3 x board, is in fact 3 x primary regs, the simplest solution would be to add a Y or T to split the output from one of the regs you have and add a 2ndary reg to one of the lines to allow you to set a lower pressure off it.

if similar to mine then its possible to unscrew the bottle pressure gauge and atatch a 4th reg to the common in line and the bottle gauge to its unrestricted output
However these are generally sealed with threadlock, to exchange my gas in hose i needed a 30cm wrench and a 5 ft steel pole as a lever to break the threadlock, and unscrew the old hose..

Ironblue - if you were only using one secondary regulator, would you need something to block off the side that is attaching to the second secondary regulator?

Yes. The last reg in the chain has a blanking plug. You can just about see one in my photo, a John Guest blank, plugged into the output of the third reg.Will333 wrote:Ironblue - if you were only using one secondary regulator, would you need something to block off the side that is attaching to the second secondary regulator?
