I know there is at least one thread on here about this, but I can't find it. What is the max pressure a standard glass bottle can hold? Will they hold 4 vol co2 pressure?

Think I remember someone saying to me that standard bottles are made to take either 2.6 or 2.8. The thicker Belgian Style bottles will take more, but not sure what their limit is

The little Belgian ones with wavy necks will take 4.5 volumes.
Ingredients: Water, Barley, Hops, Yeast, Seaweed, Blood, Sweat, The swim bladder of a sturgeon, My enemies tears, Scenes of mild peril, An otter's handbag and Riboflavin.

You'll probably need the corks with a wire cage for that pressure.
Re: Bottle pressure...
Yeah decided to go lower pressure to avoid losses.

Re: Bottle pressure...
I've put 3.5 volumes in those belgian bottles with a crown cap... it may have been higher than that as my scales were broken.
The only time I've had one break was with a beer that ended up undercarbonated.

I've done similar. I've had a couple explode, but that was more down to poor process on my part (bottling before it had finished fermenting). Now I leave all my beers to ferment for 3 weeks, and haven't had a repeat.
