Python set up?

Post by bottles » Thu Sep 01, 2016 10:09 pm

Hi all,
After recently replacing the circulation pump in my maxi 110, I've noticed in the summer heat the first pint is a bit warm for my liking. Now I could drink the warm beer like medicine or god forbid throw it away! On doing some research I could use the python lines on the maxi.
I now need some guidance in setting it up. My first thoughts was looking to set it up like recirculating wort cooler. A fat pipe carrying the cold water with a thinner pipe inside carrying the beer going into the tap. Or looking on evilbay for python lines they seem to be multiple beer lines with two python lines surrounded by insulation.
Is it worth buying the python lines for a single beer line? The cheap way looks to be one python lines doubled back to the maxi taped around the single beer line covered with 15mm pipe lagging. Isthere anything to be gained in using a fat 5/8 pipe with a 3/16 beer line inside.
My current set up has about 1.5 Meter 3/16 from the maxi cooler. I may increase the length of this due to foaming issues with new kegs.

perhaps keep a pint glass in the freezer to pour the first pint into to combat the latent heat in your microline between chiller and tap.

the comercial python lines are a bundle of product lines with 2 x 15mm ldpe tubes to carry the pyton feed and return. and you can make your own very easily, bundle your product and python lines together and wrap with cling film to bind, seal and insulate before fitting inside a suitable sized pipe insulator, i would suggest armoflex is worth the investment in this case.

i wouldnt over think it 2 x simple lines feed and return encapsulated with the produt line will eliminate the latent heat i suspect causing your issue and anything too complex like tube within tube may present too much restriction for the pump.
ist update for months n months..
