Conditioning

Post by ravenlocke83 » Sun Sep 11, 2016 10:35 pm

Hi, I'm new to the forum but have been brewing for a few years,

I have recently upgraded from a 25 ltr all grain set up to 100 ltr - I really like to condition my beer In casks before bottling, however wondering how I can do this for 100 ltr? Do I use another fermenter, or can I condition in casks (firkins) and then bottle from there if so how would you do this?. I cant afford a conditioning tank as yet but this will be the long term aim for bottling. Any advice would be a great help here. Thanks very much.

Mike

just get more casks in,, your probably better off sticking to pins as the larger volumes of bigger casks would probably need an investment in hoists and lifts to lump n move about.

how do you bottle from a cask?? most folk who bottle bright live beer do with kegs and a counter pressure bottle filler afaik, or one of the pegas bottle filling taps or a 'fixed' chinese knock off.

Welcome Mike.

Really, any large container that can hold the beer (at the correct temperature obviously) will do. However, as said above you need to think about the practicalities of moving around 100l of liquid.

I'm going to move this to the 'Dispensing' forum.
