corny keg and fridge

Post by analogsynthman » Sat Sep 24, 2016 12:18 pm

Hi all, I've finally got fed up with the plastic barrels and took the plunge into the world of kegging.
I'm just waiting for my dalex tap and beer line to arrive and i'll be up and running.
Looking around for c02 i decided to go with a local firm called BW fire in eastwood, Nottingham, i got a 6kg bottle for £90 already full, and it's £30 for a refill.
Great friendly service, so i can highly recommend them to anyone living local.
I've got a nice 3.3% mild to test out my corny, just waiting for it to finish off then i'll crash cool and keg. :D

Sounds good; finding a gas supplier is often the main stumbling block for people. You even appear to have landed a stubby cylinder, which is nice - mine (and many others) are a bit slimmer and lot taller, which I don't find as convenient.

I'd still suggest some sort of wall strap or something to prevent accidental toppling-over of the cylinder though. The regulator can be damaged if that happens whilst attached - which is annoying but also potentially dangerous given the pressures involved so better safe tan sorry and all that.

Yes Kev, you can't tell in the grainy photo, but i've got some string going from the gas bottle handle to a hook on the draws to stop the bottle moving. I did this straight away, didn't want my cat knocking it over lol.

welcome to the world of kegging and consistent pours ;) once the system is balanced.

a good strong co2 bottle anchor is a must, when my bottle toppled thankfully my legs got in the way and saved my attach to bottle reg as thats guaranteed to hit the floor first ;) a big OUCH! and i was rapidly chaining the thing to the wall.

i bottled for the first time in a while OMG what a bore/chore :)
