Having used a corny once before from a temp controlled fridge I was served a pint of froth until making the line a lot more narrow and long. How does that work with the actual beer being technically warm then rapidly chilled in the maxi to serve. How do you avoid a pint of froth?

Re: cask widge
if you plumb the chiller inline with 3/8" beerline from the keg, as the 3/8" line has little noticeable pressure reducing qualities until something like 12m of line is used iirc ( dont quote me on the specific length there) the beer in the line and product coil in the chiller is maintained at basically the same pressure as the keg SO should retain the condition held by the keg pressure in the beer when its then passed through whatever anti fobbing used (microline or flow restriction taps or devices) to the tap and released, as long as the chilling has been effective that is...Bunglebrewsbeer wrote:Having used a corny once before from a temp controlled fridge I was served a pint of froth until making the line a lot more narrow and long. fact is in practice you have a bit of excess pressure that needs venting with a spit of foam at the start of every pouring session..

Just out of interest. Where you get your cask from?

Re: cask widge
I ordered a couple from Brewery Plastics, dead happy with them. They are cheaper and lighter than stainless but don't look as good imo however mine sit under a chilling jacked so it doesn't really matter.Bunglebrewsbeer wrote:Just out of interest. Where you get your cask from?

Is there a minimum order? How much was it if you don't mind me asking.

Re: cask widge
No, no minimum order. The casks were £29 each and shipping was £11. Add vat to all that made it £82.80 delivered for 2 pins (4.5 gallons each).
They are very helpful on the phone, I don't imagine the firkins (9 gallons) will be a huge amount more is that is what you are after but give them a call.

Cheers. Think 4.5 be good to start with.

I think the shipping was the same for one or two pins (perhaps more), so it made sense to order two

I am only just starting to use casks but I know others who use them with no problems. You will need to buy keystones and shives but if you will be using a caskwidge you won't need any spiles. you will need some co2 though, and a large mallet.
You will need to know your FG's and not rack until you get to the correct gravity but other than that you should be fine.

Re: cask widge
Does the CO2 connect to the cask widge thing? And a breather thing needed to allow a bit in as its drawn out.
