New smaller Sankey Kegs
Re: New smaller Sankey Kegs
£85 for something half the size of something for £75 seems a rip off to me, it'll cost you £170 for the same capacity.

I guess the reason 20s are slot cheaper is they get bought in in bulk. Importing a relatively small amount raises cost and really makes it uneconomical
Re: New smaller Sankey Kegs
The £85 includes delivery and VAT so they are about the same price as 20L and there only about 2Kg less steel in them they still have to be made the same and from what everyone says there is no demand for them outside of a small no of home brewers so theres a minor setup cost for small runs. Anyway the price is what it is.

Re: New smaller Sankey Kegs
Have a look at the smaller corny keg prices compared to the standard 19l units, its the same.
The standard units are supplied in bulk so the price is lower.
There is a similar amount of work involved in making the smaller capacity kegs, the only difference being the length of the middle tube part and the length of the spear, everything else is universal between the 10 & 20l.
These smaller kegs are however very useful if you are tight for room / headspace in a fridge / storage area.
If people want a 10l traditional keg, try buying them cheaper elsewhere, you cant.
If we want to go down the capacity v price route the 20l ones are also a rip off compared to the 50l keg, again as a result one would assume of supply and demand, £64.80 ex delivery for a 20 l & £70.80 ex delivery for a 50l, now 50l / 20l = 2.5, so 2.5 x £64.80 = £162.00 although you would need to buy 3 so £194.40, bargain.

Re: New smaller Sankey Kegs
Yep, its always the same pattern irrespective of the container being sankeys, cornies or even other homebrew sized containers like fermenters. The small saving in materials of making smaller versions is peanuts compared to having to spread costs over lower volumes of manufacture; its down to simple economics.
If price per litre were the main factor we'd all be buying industry standard 50L kegs or bigger. However we value things like convenience, ease of handling and the ability to put the kegs in fridges etc. so sometimes its beneficial to get smaller ones even though the price per litre is less favourable.

Re: New smaller Sankey Kegs
After looking at the different diameters/heights and having a think about how they will fit in my kegerator I have put myself down for 2 of them.
I am also happy to go for 2 of the 15L ones though instead as they should enable me to still have a second level of kegs in the kegerator but give a little more flexibility with the size.
I see that Crusader seem to be a bit confused on their site though as they mention free delivery on 6+ kegs and no minimum order (works out just under £55/keg on 6 of them) but then on the ordering page has a link for the smaller orders to Brew UK, has anyone spoke to them and know what the deal is?

Re: New smaller Sankey Kegs
I have placed an order for 12 in the past and got them £4 cheaper than the website price for 25 and I think he did confirm no minimum order on the phone.f00b4r wrote:After looking at the different diameters/heights and having a think about how they will fit in my kegerator I have put myself down for 2 of them.

Re: New smaller Sankey Kegs
It doesn't look like theres enough interest to move forward on an order for 10L kegs from any on the current suppliers but theres 1 last chance I spoke to these guys http://www.schaefer-container-systems.c ... able-kegs/ and they can do no minimum order but things like the 10L ones would have to wait for there next run which could be ages but there getting back to me so I will let you all know. Theres also some other interesting kegs n there product range.
Re: New smaller Sankey Kegs
Interesting on the Crusader pricing. It sounds like it is probably a case of waiting for a run and having one of the companies actually having them in stock then. I think those who are after them will probably be prepared to wait although I am surprise there was not more interest in the 15L kegs available now.
Re: New smaller Sankey Kegs
I finally got a reply from the last guys and I am afraid its off Schafer want an order confirmed by 27/5/16 for delivery early October price 68 euro + 13 for spear. There doesn't seem to be a minimum order so if anyone wants to order them selves or do there own group buy please pm me your email address and I will send you the quote.
