Euro Style Beer Taps

Post by Uncle Albert » Sat Jul 12, 2014 11:07 pm

I am a complete newbie but I have looking and seen lots of Perlick and Chinese copies

But I cannot seem to find taps being sold by the true beer drinking nations like UK, Belgium, Germany & Czechs...... Where are they all? Can anyone suggest the start of a Google trail and research mission.

They must exist.... I see nice ones in pubs all the time

So my rants are :

1) why can't I buy good stainless steel euro beer taps online!

2) why can't I buy stainless steel shanks with 3/16 bore? Only 1/4 bore

Can somebody put me out of my misery :o

Cheers

James

I think the homebrew company sell the taps you are after. I'm on my way into work so not easy to check right now.

Italian company Celli makes very good euro taps, about 90% sold here is Celli. Brass and with chromium coating.

I'd guess Angram would be the best british make?

I don't have any though so can't comment :(

They all look like fonts as opposed to just the taps though

Spoke to Celli - said they might help me out if I order 500 taps! Nearly fell off my chair. Will look at the other links thanks for the headsup

The French website looks good but I have taken the easy option and ordered 650ss and SS shanks from kegworks. Hopefully last as long as I will.

The only thing I would like to improve is the black plastic handles for something a bit more rustic and "Microbrewery - ish".. Any tips? I'm sure lots of people have been down this road before

Hi James

If they are anything like Perlicks I've got if you buy the right sized tap, I think it's an M10 (16tpi), you can basically put a thread in anything you want to as long as you can drill and tap it.

I put some 316 SS 1/4" inch T's on the top of mine using a bronze bush I made. If that doesn't make sense I'll post a photo when I work out how !

Cheers
