Adapting a pressure sprayer for use as a pressure barrel ?

Post by Nosferatu » Mon Aug 04, 2014 3:52 am

What it says in the title . After a few batches of beer I'm already starting to get bored with the faff of bottling stuff . I've got a nice little 5 gallon/23l pressure barrel but without a CO2 fitting found that I had to drink the stuff fairly rapidly to avoid my beer going flat and even though it would be great excuse to drink more and make more I'm not sure my mrs or liver would agree . So I thought buy a couple/few smaller pressure barrels only to find that the little small efforts are near as damn the same price as a full size one , bugger that . Then I thought about adapting one of those weedkiller spray thingies , they seem to tick a few boxes , nice convenient 5l size , cheap , and have relief v/v and various threaded connections so could cap the plunger and spray bits and fit a tap etc and most importantly are rated to about 3b or 45 p.s.i. for you old folk  so should be more than capable of housing a nicely primed brew . Anyway just wondering if anyone else has tried owt like this and how it went ?

Hmm on second thoughts wonder if you could use the spray mechanism to dispense the beer   ...
And they wonder why we drink ...

For some reason the inside of these always seem to stink like chemicals. No idea what they're made of but I wouldn't put beer in any of the ones I've had

The plastic is unlikely to be food safe.

a C02 injector cap would be cheaper than a bunch of new spray bottles, and even tho its the most expensive way to buy co2 (bulbs) you will only need one or two per barrel full unless your having a session with the lads..

an s30 cap n bottle would involve a lil more upfront investment but will work out cheaper in the end

Aye looks like I'll have to go down the CO2 route , pity I quite liked the idea of the smaller containers . Cheers for the input lads .

You can get 2 gallon pressure barrels. Handy for picnics and parties.
