Hi
Currently when taking beer to a party I decant bright beer into a clean barrel, dispensing by removing the lid and inserting a beer pump line straight into the barrel.
Works fine when all the beer goes in one session, but as the top is basically left off, the next morning all sorts of creepy crawlies find their way in so the remaining beer is dumped.
Has anyone fitted a beer line directly to the King Keg tap (top tap) ? This way I could just loosen the tap enough to prevent a vacuum forming, still preventing the creepy crawlies from getting in and giving me another week or so to drink the beer (I would close the lid and top up with CO2).
Yes I've used Polypins in the past and they are a good solution. I'm just thinking of how to fit a beer pump line to the King Keg tap.
Any ideas ?
Cheers
Andy
Connecting a Beer Pump to a King Keg
Re: Connecting a Beer Pump to a King Keg
Before I moved to a Cornie and pins I used KK with a beer engine I fitted a bulkhead fitting that enabled me to fit a pipe that went to the bottom of the barrel along side a tee with a valve that enabled me to let a small amount of air as required this was next to a co2 fitting that I used to condition the beer I went from the tee to the beer engine this worked okay for many years

Hi
Thanks both for the info about using a bulkhead fitting and a quality link to the thread which I will look over very closely tonight
Cheers

Hi Andy
You may want to also have a read through that thread (link) where Jim shows how he'd connected a beer engine to a basic pressure barrel (via a demand valve) ... that's the approach I use on my PB and handpump, but I'm sure it would be OK for a KK ... both options would involve you using CO2 to dispense but that way involves no modifications to the barrel ... you'd just have to sort out a valve (that you'd need anyway) and some tubing/beer line to connect the tap of the KK to the demand valve and on to the beer engine and then you'd use whatever way you currently use to add CO2 (bulbs/S30)
