HELP! or, The Great Transatlantic Beer Engine Exchange
I'm ready to take my real ale dispensing to the next level. I can secure the cask and hardware on this side of the pond, but authentic beer engines are as rare as hen's teeth. The concept just has never really taken hold over here. So far, I'm having trouble finding a UK seller who is willing to ship to me.
I found this eBay.co.uk auction for a huge treasure trove of beer engines. Seems like a steal of a deal to me, and zero bids so far, but the dude won't split it up nor will he ship to the USA.

I know it's a long-shot, but do any of you guys wanna buy the lot, then sell me a single hand pump? No pressure. I realize they're very heavy, and I might not be able to afford shipping anyway. I just thought I'd throw the idea out there to gauge interest.
Cheers!

post from here is £61.86 for 13kg 4 day delivery
the average weight of an engine is 8kg which is also £61.86
cheapest i could find so probably not worth the p+p charges imo
new one in usa £236 delivered to Missouri

Apropos of nothing because I can't help on this on at present.... I've knocked up a geordies scottish export this morning.... But didn't zap it with drill/paint mixer as forgot to charge battery.... So in the spirit of invention I ran some starsan through my CC angram then transferred 20 litres of fresh wort through it to a fresh fv.... Talk about aeration !! The Northern Creamy head setting works well!
Just like trying new ideas!

Cool. Thanks everyone for the replies. We'll just see how the bidding goes, and I'll let you know if I come up with any other possibilities.
I'll put my DIY skills to use connecting a real beer engine to an oak cask with a poor-man's cask breather.
Yeah, I am a DIYer, and I thought about that project. A friend of mine built one. It's kinda cool, it definitely works, but it's definitely not a real beer engine. I don't need an Angram, but I'm hoping for something closer than that. Thanks though.6470zzy wrote:If you are a DIYer then give this a gander![]()

Seymour
I have a hand pump the kids bought me, I think refurbished. I'm wilfully non technical but its basically a handpump sitting in a big box full of mechanism with a long tube coming out of it. Hopefullly thats enough for work out of its of any use to you. I'm never going to use it so its yours if you want it, you'll just need to organise a courier.
My eldest is over at the moment, I can ask him if he has room to take it back to Frisco with him when he flys back next week, although perhaps not, even if he can handle the bulk, god knows what Homeland Security will make of it. Couriers probably safer!
