As the topic title suggests I've got a leak on my barrel where my tap screws into the body . I've recently replaced the original nasty plastic tap with a nice shiny stainless steel arrangement with all the related pipe fittings.
I filled the barrel on Saturday afternoon and it was fine until yesterday morning . My first thought was that the seal was buggered so I replaced that and sat the barrel on its side with the tap facing up . Now 24h later there's a gas leak in the same place , this suggests that the leak will only appear at a certain pressure so here's my dilemma .
Do I risk changing the seal again and going for a more robust dowty washer and fibre gasket approach but in doing so lose all the gas within and get certain air exposure then hoy it in the fridge and maybe give it a CO2 charge ?
Try to bottle the brew again losing some carbonation and getting nasty air to my beer ?
Do nowt and hope that if the pressure drops back below a certain point then the leak will disappear , then hope that come New year's eve that it's ok and given that we're having a house full of people round that it's going to get guzzled fairly quickly so I won't have to worry about it being in the upright position for very long especially as the pressure within will be decreased .
Any ideas welcome.

Help ! Leaking barrel tap .
And they wonder why we drink ...
Re: Help ! Leaking barrel tap .
One thing's pretty sure - the leak won't get any better on its own. That means that the barrel won't hold pressure and the beer will go flat.
If you don't have another barrel (as I assume you don't or you'd have transferred it by now) I would bottle the beer now, then at least it has a chance to condition a bit before you need it.
It might be acceptable in the barrel with low carbonation, but it's a big chance to take with people coming round imo.

Re: Help ! Leaking barrel tap .
Cheers Jim . I was seriously tempted to go down the bottling route but didn't have any ready to go or the time to do it so I decided to chance that it would probably still be conditioning and changed the seal for a dowty washer and fibre washer then gave it a blast of co2 . The leak is no longer there and the barrel seems to be back up to pressure so I'm hoping I got away with it . Going to give it another co2 zap tomorrow then hoy it in the fridge so hopefully it'll absorb some more in there .
