Gamebeer Kegerator

Post by Buckie Brewer » Sat May 23, 2015 8:28 pm

Posted this on the FB page (and everywhere else as I'm chuffed) but I thought I'd put it on here as well with a bit more input.
Being a 41 year old man child I decided to combine my two favorite past times into one.

The GameBeer.
Image

Started with a fridge from tescos (racking up the points)
Image

Added a vinyl wall sticker from ebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Refrigerator- ... 541bd714f2
Image

Got a load of fittings and taps. Taps from here http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_saslo ... op&_sop=10
Image

And took the plunge and drilled the holes.(Added a left over piece from the new living room floor)
Image

Got my kegs from the homebrew company deal on this thread viewtopic.php?f=6&t=71286
Image

Got a pair of secondaries to go to two kegs with the third to be straight through
Image

Using a fire extinguisher as small CO2 are hard to come by up here, the third keg will be a half size for stronger/experimental beers
Image

First pint poured a Timothy Taylor Landlord Clone from this brewday viewtopic.php?f=45&t=71356as you can see it's still a bit cloudy but I was moving the kegs about and it needs more carbing but a good first effort I think.

I am very chuffed with this as it went fairly smoothly and it is a lot better than bottling that,s for sure. The taps are per;ick copies but they are stainless and seem to be good quality, had a disaster with the shanks as the black plastic collars were smashed on delivery but a quick chat to Greg at brewUK sorted it all out.

The worst part is due to location everything had to be bought online so postage costs mounted also the delivery of everything was staggered so I found myself stopping and starting as parts arrived.

Looking good. Not sure about the provenance of fire extinguisher CO2, but you could try these. I get my gas from them and they do 5l bottles which are quite small. They are based in Haydock, Lancs and will deliver anywhere in England/Wales for about £11.
Best wishes

Thanks for the link that looks like the sort of thing I was after but I'm in the NE of Scotland so any sort of postage far outways the cost of some things.
The extinguisher idea is a well used one and was recommended by a local aquarium/tropical fish shop owner as a lot of his customers are using them.

Is there no danger ruining things drilling the doors? Or is there a set place to drill?

No danger in drilling the doors, but it was nerve racking putting screws in the side. I run the fridge on full with the door open for an hour and where the coils were condensation and ice formed.

Would no nails do the trick to stick some wood on yo side. Then screw into that?

Not sure but there was nothing in the sides just the back so there was no problems.

Emptied the fire extinguisher by accident while playing around with the pressures so I upgraded to the real deal today.

Is it quite straight forward setting up the kegs and gas lines?
