Where Can I Buy PolyKegs?

Post by nicksonic » Tue Sep 08, 2015 2:03 pm

I've read a fair bit about polykegs as a cost effective alternative to Crusaders but I'm none the wiser on where to get them from, despite doing the usual internet searches. I've upgraded to a 80L set-up so the 20L kegs seem ideal.

Could someone guide me in the right direction?

Cheers.

Not a Polykeg but how about anEcoKeg

They did sell on eBay a short time ago, but no longer . . . however you could try Steve Tipples on Tel: +44 (0) 01656 725799 There were under 20 quid IIRC

Nice spec Keg

They disassemble in the same manner as a polykeg . . . In effect they are a polykeg in a plastic liner for strength.

Nothing wrong with either the stainless or plastic.

Thinking more long term, cost v longevity v resell, I would bit the bullet and go for the Crusader type, far less bulky as well.

Second hand corny kegs are so cheap now I can't see why you would use anything else?

£24 plus delivery.

That does sound pretty attractive although the price I see is £29.58 + £8.03 for delivery.

Think the price crept up a little recently - they were going for £24 each recently.

Amazing value when you consider that about a year ago, £100 each plus p&p was considered acceptable....

If you go through their irish website it's 33 euro plus delivery. Not sure why you are getting a different price?

Corny kegs are great. however, you really need a decent sized CO2 cylinder and regulators. Well worth the investment IMO.

You need a CO2 cylinder for the Sankey kegs too. The Polykegs came via a forum member who bought a job lot used from a brewery. I've had too much trouble with them sealing to recommend them (although I am managing to use 5 out of 6 as kegs with the sixth a fermenter). The Ecokegs have much better seals. They disappeared from eBay a while ago and the reappeared so they will probably appear again. The problem with cornies is they don't seal at low pressure.

I presume they seal at low enough pressure to not produce a carbonated best bitter, for example?
