CO2 Supplier

Post by TheEarlOfMarquis » Tue Sep 08, 2015 2:16 pm

I'm really sorry if this question has been asked a lot in the past, I have had a quick look through the search but couldn't find what I was looking for.
I went to a CO2 suppliers ( Agar's near Chesterfield) today in the hope of picking up a bottle. I was turned away as I didn't have an empty bottle to exchange.
When I asked them how do I get an empty bottle as it's my first time at buying CO2 they couldn't answer me.
I'm a bit stumped really. Does anyone know of another supplier in the Chesterfield area? Can I use CO2 welding gas?

I have found another supplier 'Gas & hire LTD' based in Chesterfield. They will let me pay a deposit on a bottle so no empty is needed, problem solved.

Is it industrial/welding CO2 or food grade mix?

Do you know if there is a "food grade mix" ? my understanding if there is CO2 and then medical CO2 which is 99%+ pure. My only reservation is what the insides of the bottles are like!

Beverage gases supplied to the drinks industry come in various mixes of CO2/ nitrogen depending on what is being dispensed. . I was led to believe the industrial grade CO2 was not as pure and may cause undesirable side effects due to the impurities.

The guys who refill the CO2 fill welding, beer and fire extigushers from the same tank there is no issue with the gas. The difference is the beer ones the tank is food grade though the chances of anything toxic that could get dispensed from any other type is about nothing.
Ask if a pub can get you one or tell you where they get it from.
