Beer Tap Problems
Beer Tap Problems
Hi
This has probably been asked before but i cant find a thread anywhere.
Basically i cant get my beer line onto my beer tap. The line is 3/8 and so is the stainless steel tube coming out the back on the tap (i think its called a spigot).
Obviously they're the same size and that is why i can't get it on, so does anyone know the solution please cos I've got 4 full cornys and i'm getting thirsty?!!!!!
Cheers

Re: Beer Tap Problems
Soften the end of the beer line in boiling water for 5 minutes then it will go over the pipe on the tap.
Re: Beer Tap Problems
Tried that but it didnt seem to work, the beer line is really hard. Thought maybe i hadn't left it in the hot water for long enough but just tried again, still no joy!
Any other suggestions?

Re: Beer Tap Problems
How about a John Guest coupler? That's assuming the tap has a stem rather than a barb.

As John Guest fitting don't seal on stainless steel pipe/fittings I used these to connect my beer line to the shanks as you can see in this thread
Re: Beer Tap Problems
How about a john guest barb fitting. Connect to pump barb with short bit if silicone hose then connect your beer line to the John Guest fitting

Those are the same JG fittings that I use on one of my Sankey couplers. You can also get them with a brass nut.Buckie Brewer wrote:As John Guest fitting don't seal on stainless steel pipe/fittings I used these to connect my beer line to the shanks as you can see in this thread
Re: Beer Tap Problems
I think i'll try the JG fitting that thread right onto the end of the tap like in Buckies post. I have some 5/8 brass nuts that i tried and they fitted perfectly.
Thanks for help everyone, hopefully i'll get into those cornys in a by the weekend.

Re: Beer Tap Problems
Hi
Just in case anyone is interested the 5/8 John Guest fittings worked perfectly (thanks Buckie).
Fitted them on Friday, cleaned the beer lines and proceeded to drink enough beer to give me a slightly sore head in the morning.
Very grateful for all help given.
Cheers
