New smaller Sankey Kegs

Post by barneey » Thu Oct 22, 2015 1:15 pm

Some while ago I introduced the 20l Sankey Kegs to the Homebrew Market, things have moved on quite abit since then and the latest trend from HomeBrew suppliers seems to be those growler things :?: , which means if you already own Sankey kegs you have to buy all new dispense equipment :?: #-o

But now the Sankey kegs are available in different sizes 5, 10, 15, the original 20 & I believe 25 & 30`s.

Here is a picture of a 10lt mini sankey keg :D

Interesting, what sort of diameter/height are these compared to a Corny and what sort of money?

Are they available without pretending to be a brewery and ordering a "sample"?

Size of the smaller keg is 235mm diameter x 350mm high (10L)

Search Ali Express for prices, however these kegs are crying out for a homebrew supplier to start stocking them.

My only slight gripe with them is the cutout for the handle could be better finished.

i did notice also that the finish on them isn't as grand as the crusader kegs, but it's minor stuff and they seem to do the job alright. i think the 10L is a good compromise size considering price, but sometimes i just can't be bothered to bottle even 5L and do wonder about the smaller ones..

i think they do happily sell individually when they have an order in, just it's obviously not worth firing up the machines for just a couple

New smaller Sankey Kegs

I saw just under 65 quid but the bulk of that was postage. Someone importing them in bulk should be able to bring that price down and make a decent margin.

So you've got to find a spear and pay duties on it ?

They also sell spears, all the main types, it was just a note really so anyone getting a keg would know they have to order a spear as well.

If you already have your own spears just let them know you need a threaded neck.

So what did you pay in total including duty and did that include a spear if you don't mind me asking?

£72.79 for the keg, import was £8.00 but RM charged a further £12.00 in charges for the privilege of taking the £8.00 =D>

The spears could be bought according to the seller for $18, I have a few spare so cut one down height wise to fit.

The majority of the cost is shipping, a slow boat would be far cheaper.

New smaller Sankey Kegs

Post by f00b4r » Thu Oct 22, 2015 10:30 pm

Ouch! I emailed NDL (?) last week as I saw they were doing 10L kegs and had opened a UK warehouse. They passed it onto their "UK operation" who turned out to be Crusader, maybe Brew UK will consider stocking the smaller ones if the others are selling well (or someone else take a punt).

If this thread as I hope it will get a UK based HomeBrew store interested / stocking these kegs = job done, as I mentioned originally I cant see why they have gone down the Growler route? IMO a traditional keg is far superior, unless of course its to sell all new equipment and means of serving?

You are looking at approx. 100 units on a slow boat to keep costs down (& no I am not organising a group buy) but I think someone should. When I met with Crusader all those months / years ago they weren't that interested in Joe Public or joining JBK but at least did sale the kegs, that part of the operation has no been passed to the HB store.
