Flip-top bottles

Post by scotsloon » Tue Dec 01, 2015 1:54 pm

Had a stroke of luck the other day. I passed a pub called CASC (Cigars Ales Scotch Coffee) in Aberdeen and negotiated some small (330ml) flip top bottles. I ended up with 39 in 2 black bags. This pub sells larger bottles of beer in flip tops but has to pay a deposit on them, consequently they wouldn't give/sell me any of them. These smaller bottles are just fine for my (currently fermenting) Biere De Garde which looks like it is going to come out around 8%.

I've checked around on the internet and there doesn't seem to be another of these pubs elsewhere but you might find something similar. The beer in the bottles was Flensberg Pilsner and at 4.8% it was not a bad drop.

Great find. I like the smaller bottles. I can have a bottle with my dinner every night without worrying about drinking too much (especially good for the stronger brews too)

Reminds me... A friend of mine said he had a whole load of Newquay Brown (really) swing-top bottles that I could have. I must chase him up about them.
