Cheap Drip Tray for Fridge Door?

Post by MTW » Mon Mar 07, 2016 5:01 pm

Just finished installing two nice Enodis fonts on the front of my fridge, all working nicely. I'm planning a chalkboard style adhesive film above the handles, for labelling the brews.

Anyone got an economical solution for a drip tray please? Either one for each tap, or a wider one going right across. The taps are 24cm apart, centre-centre. Home made or ready made.

Cheers

Brew UK has nice SS ones, but they're not exactly cheap.
Best wishes

Towels on the floor against the edge of the kegerator is my solution. Doesn't get much cheaper than that. You could roll them up or something to make it look nice.

A piece of guttering cut to size with the ends blocked off with some stainless steel grating on top. Saw it in one of the breweries near Tower Bridge.

I've upgraded my towels to a Corona ice bucket :)

Pub drip trays go cheap on ebay. Then you would need to drill a couple of holes in the side. Then screw two screws in to your fridge door. Then you can hook the drip tray on. Unhook it to empty it. I bought a "proper" kegerator one thinking it would be the best solution and I could lift the internals out to empty. Turns out I was wrong. I still have to unhook the drip tray each time I want to empty. In my view this makes the "proper" kegerator drip tray a total waste of money and I should have just drilled a cheap pub one. That's my 2p.

Cheap Drip Tray for Fridge Door?

Post by f00b4r » Sun Apr 03, 2016 11:40 am

I was thinking about using the ones that come with beer engines for mine, they are cheap, it means each tap can have individual ones underneath and having some extra ones means I can just swap out the used ones at the end of a night for them to be washed (hopefully avoiding fruit flies etc). The only thing I have to work out is what to use as the holder or individual holders for them. Anyone using this kind of setup and any thoughts?

Okay in answer to my own question around attaching them (also a cheap source of the drop trays themselves):

Looks like I personally will be trying this unless someone sees a flaw.

They should be fine as far as I can see. You probably need one per tap though as they are not that wide.

Only trouble with that idea is that by the time you bought two trays, two holders and paid postage, the price is about the same as a stainless steel unit :(

Yeah but I want to be able to swap the individual ones of easily and might pick up some other bits and pieces from there anyway

Whereabouts are you based, might be worth seeing if anyone local is interested as well?
