Interim solution
Am planning to keg a few batches of beer ready for over the summer and getting some CO2 to dispense but without going to the extent of converting a fridge or freezer into holding the kegs and putting some taps in it what other options do I have? Have a couple of big parties to cater for this year and wanted people to be able to help themselves without having to go to a large amount of expense to begin with.

Cheers Ben, it was more to do with a dispensing solution as in the best way for people to pour themselves pints.

You're really limited. For the one of events where you expect to sell out, you could just get some cheap plastic barrels and treat the beer like a cask conditioned one. Once it's broached, leave the cap open enough for air to ingress and replace the beer, you then have up to 3 days to consume it. Cover these with towels soaked in iced water and keep in the shade. Most people bite the bullet and end up kegging and buying gas taps and of course a keezer or keggorator to maintain temperature. An eye on Ebay may provide you with a relatively cheap set up.

short length of 3/16" beer line from keg stepped up to a £3 thumb-operated partytap? the 3/16" size means you can have a short and tidy bit of beerline without foaming issues. standing the kegs in water is a good idea to at least maintain a bit of a constant temperature. might need calibrating on the day to make sure

Yep I use this system with my 4 litre mini keg and it works well. 3/16 beer line is pretty cheap so start long and shorten as required. Remember you get less froth with this type of tap full open rather than trying to reduce the flow with the tap.

I like my beers highly carbed so pressure is set at 20psi and a fair bit of beer line.
