New Tap

Post by Wezzel » Tue Jul 12, 2016 5:52 pm

I've just received a shiny new Intertap beer tap for my beer fridge. I mistakenly thought it came with a spring to make it self-closing but have now discovered that it didn't

I could probably buy one from somewhere (Keg Kingdom don't seem to sell them) but even if I do I would need the special Intertap shank, which mine isn't.

I was just wondering if most of you manage without self closers and if I am likely to keep knocking the tap and flooding the garage!

I've got the same tap and it's not been a problem, found it odd that maltmiller doesn't sell the Spring aswell
Mines flow control though and I'm pretty sure you can't use them with the flow control version anyway

You definitely can't use them with flow control. I've not found this to be a problem.

Thanks Guys. As the fridge is in the garage I was just a bit concerned one of us might knock the tap while passing and waste precious beer

Mine is as well and so far so good. Cue demig walking into a tap and causing a beer flood!

It would probably make less mess than when you managed to attach the disconnect to the wrong post ;)

That is very true and I do recommend that the op does not do that.

How about a simple solution like an elastic band wrapped round the handle and hooked onto a hook on the mount behind it, so when you pull the handle forward to dispense its under tension from the elastic band?

I know it would look pants but it would work and be totally reversible without damage to the tap.

Thanks. That would work but, yes, it would look a bit pants

The chap from Keg Kingdom is going to see if he can find a spring so I'll try it without for the time being.

Whoo-hoo, the very helpful man at Keg Kingdom found me a spring that fits perfectly. Problem solved
