Change the valves to s30s and use the big Hamilton bard canisters. It's something like £20 deposit and £5 refill. Your LHBS should be able to set you up with this if you take the lids with you. Im not familiar with those barrels but you might be able to change the taps to something better.

upgrading the taps will make the biggest difference to you.

option for replacement depends on how the current tap attaches to the barrel. Sparker or Dalex taps are candidates if the fittings work

Try the sparkler taps that some shops sell, I've got them on 3 barrels and make a big difference to the pour.

As Deadfall says, change the valves on the caps for the S30 type. Then you can use the Hambleton Bard 250g bottles which are much more economical.

I have actually just downgraded to using the 8g gas bulbs. I do not have a home brew shop anywhere near me and getting hold of the Hambleton Bard S30s was a nightmare. I don't believe that the S30 is as cheap as you might think. The reason they are called S30s is because they hold 30 times as much gas as the 8g bulbs. My last purchase from Amazon was 30 bulbs for less than £14.
On ebay at the moment you can get a new S30 for £24 and a replacement for £14.

Having said all that, I no longer use my pressure barrels for dispensing. I use them more for bulk ageing. Beer goes in the PB, I then use 1 x 8g cylinder (which is 4-5 litres of gas) to provide a CO2 blanket and then just leave it until it falls bright and I am ready to bottle with a bottling stick. Seems to work for me.

i have converted one of my king kegs to take a 3/8 co2 input through the lid, and have replaced the tap with 3/8 beer line and bulkhead - all hooked up to my regulator and fire extinguisher
Planning: BrewEasy system build; possibly a Wychwood Hobgoblin Gold clone
Fermenting: Simcoe SMASH
Drinking: Cascade Centennial Pale
