Adams Gas - 1.5kg Empty weight

Post by smartdev » Sat Nov 12, 2016 3:46 pm

Hey all,

I have got a small co2 tank as can be seen here:

I know some of you guys use this size too and I was wondering how much it shoudl way empty vs full? I have had it a while and I am worried about running out at christmas :)

Currently its at 4.1kg....

Thanks!

The 1.5kg is the quantity of gas when full.

There should be a "tare" weight stamped on the neck of the cylinder. This is the weight of the empty cylinder.

So current contents = 4.1kg - tare weight

Ah, brilliant thanks! yes its stamped with roughly 2.9kg which means I have a good 1 kg left which is about 66% :D...surprised how long it lasts

It does last. Just watch for leaks.

Also, unlike air cylinders, the pressure gauge is no indication of contents on CO2. Not quite sure why!

For as long as there is liquid CO2 in the cylinder then the pressure will be the same assuming constant temperature. Once the bottle is almost empty it will only contain gas and the pressure will rapidly drop as the CO2 is used.
I'm guessing a compressed air cylinder is never at such a high pressure that the gas liquefies and so the gauge is a good guide.
