Cask dispensing using CO2 to keep beer fresh
Hi everyone, I have recently bought a reconditioned Angram beer engine and I am now dispensing my beer in my garden pub using a plastic 36 pint cask. Can anyone tell me how I can connect CO2 through the shive to protect the beer, similar to the pressure barrels where you screw on a small cylinder of co2 ?
Thanks,
Nobby
Thanks,
Nobby

You need a cask breather [also known as an aspirator] to supply CO2 at (near) atmospheric pressure and a spigot connector to get it into the hole where the spile would normally go.
EDIT: both available on this page (and other suppliers) - http://www.brandels.co.uk/index.php?rou ... 130_94_119

Thanks Jim. I now need to look at what CO2 cylinder and piping I need to connect up to my cask and beer engine.

pop down to the Andover Patio Centre they will sell you a 6.5kg bottle of co2 which is gonna be a lifetimes supply assuming no losses due to leaks for a single cask @ 1 atmosphere for the price of a refill (£0.00 botle deposit)Nobby Novice wrote:Thanks Jim. while most places levy a £50+ bottle deposit.
they are a liquide air or is it air liquide ?? agent so once you have a bottle to exchange for a refil you can do so with any agent so you only need to trek down to andover the once not too far from swindon, your closer than i am
ist update for months n months..

Hi Guys
Just thought I'd point out that the Mason's is only £5.30 instead of £10.60

Also I would recommend a check valve just between your dispense unit and your cask tap
http://www.harrymasons.com/product/chec ... beer-line/
and an aspirating valve

Hi jamesdill,
Thanks for those links. Harry Masons certainly have some great cellar stuff. Are they trade only or will they supply home brewers ? Great prices too. Thanks
