Kegerator beer taps
Kegerator beer taps
I am looking get a kegerator set up at some point and obviously need some taps. There seems to be 3 main types to choose from, the difference mainly being the shape and size of the spout. Which type do people use themselves and think is the best type for me to go for?

Re: Kegerator beer taps
Personally I would make sure they are forward sealing because unless you are going to use them daily they will jam up with dried up beer.
Take a look at the Intertaps as well.

Re: Kegerator beer taps
I use a mix of flow control Perlick (top right style) and Dalex which both do the job.
The Perlick are beautifully (over)engineered and have a good forward sealing design but the budget Dalex is very close behind.

Re: Kegerator beer taps
I think I'm going to go with the top right forward sealing type. I like the Intertap ones but the price tag is making me consider a cheaper alternative.

Ive got Perlicks and Intertaps. Both great. Perlicks slightly better IMO and is reflected usually in the price

Re: Kegerator beer taps
Does anyone know what size screw thread the shank is as I want to attach a John guest fitting?

That depends upon the tap, the Intertap and Perlicks are the same and you can add something like this or for a mute flexible setup this; the latter will let you switch the keg attached to the tap easily (good if e.g you want to invest in less higher quality taps to start with and also for ease of use with carbonation caps, although you will want to ensure that you have a leak free system as it does add another potential point of failure).m_rawdin wrote:Does anyone know what size screw thread the shank is as I want to attach a John guest fitting?
If you buy UK taps the thread will be different and if you buy from China check as you could end up with either size.
Re: Kegerator beer taps
So I'm looking at stainless steel taps, some have brass shanks, does that make a difference?
