9 litre corny keg

Post by m_rawdin » Thu Aug 30, 2018 11:38 am

I know this is extremely unlikely but does anyone have a 9 litre corny keg they want to sell for a not too extortionate price?

And Sat lottery numbers .
Didn’t keg kingdom have a few at one stage?
Just checked, holy crap £76 for a new one, I do recollect a discussion where it basically the same hardware as full size used hence why not half the cost

Those things only show up when someone is selling up and quitting.

I just bought one and can tell why they are so highly prized. I have some of those 4L growler kegs that I hoped to make into a mini kegerator with a low profile fridge, and they are not that suitable. However the 9L corny is possibly just short enough to fit in with disconnects.

I had a look too and they're like rocking horse shite! Silly price for such a small amount of dispense, commercial 50L kegs are only in the 50-60 range. I would be tempted to bottle for that amount anyway - problem is by the time you've hooked it up, you might lose a litre to sediment and sour lines and it's a fifth of the batch. 660ml bottles all the way!

I bottle most of my batches, but use small growler kegs for travel beer, like parties and camping. I condition in these, and don’t use a motherkeg.

In practice it can be a bit fiddly with removable spear heads, which are not cheap. Hence I am looking at small cornies.

Container cost/Litre of stored beer is not the only consideration here. It’s not feasible to lug a 20L keg everywhere and they are hard to chill on the road, and not everyone has the space for a full size kegerator.

In addition none of these kegs ever lose value on resale

I think I've got more chance of finding the holy grail than a 9l keg :D

I don’t know whether this is helpful, but I popped into Keg Kingdom for a few bits and pieces for my keezer yesterday, I noticed a damaged (only abrasive on body) 9 litre cornie on the stock shelf with others. It may be worth contacting them to see if they are prepared to sell.
The website if not known is Kegkingdom.co.uk. One word of warning, they can be slow to respond sometimes, the guy you need to speak to is Matt.
